Welcome,

My name is Doug McWilliams. I am a board certified psychiatrist offering evaluation and management services for a wide range of mental health diagnoses and concerns.  I am based in Columbia, MD. However, I see patients all across the state of Maryland, Wisconsin, and Virginia. 

My general philosophy focuses on improving the whole person and not just treating a symptom. My goal is to improve my patient's lives across all domains of functioning. 

I completed my residency training at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI and was selected to be Chief Resident my final year of training. In this role, I supervised and assisted with management of the residency training program.

Professionally, I have worked in multiple settings and have experience in emergency psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, outpatient psychiatry, addiction medicine, and consult-liaison psychiatry. I currently split my time between private practice and the Department of Veteran's Affairs. I have worked with multiple unique patient populations including LGBTQ+, and military veterans.
