Clinic Information/Policies
As an M.D. trained psychiatrist, I have the unique ability to offer both medication and therapy interventions simultaneously. This allows us to incorporate both treatment options in a synergistic way to achieve the best outcomes overall.
I offer in-person and virtual visits to patients in Maryland. If you are in Maryland and looking for a nearby psychiatrist, My office is in Columbia, MD. I offer virtual visits to patients in Wisconsin and across the state of Maryland. Virtual visits offer the ability to fit scheduled appointments into your busy schedule without having to account for travel time. If interested in a virtual visit, you will need either a computer with microphone and camera, or a smart phone with a working camera.
Appointment Scheduling
All first appointments are considered a consultation only. At the end of this initial consultation which typically lasts 60 minutes, I will be able to determine if I can offer psychiatric treatment to meet your needs. If my practice is not an appropriate fit, I will provide information and relevant recommendations based on my diagnostic evaluation. If my practice appears to be an appropriate fit, we will work together to develop a plan for treatment that considers your individual needs and incorporates as-indicated psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and behavioral interventions.
As a small practice, appointments may not be available every day of the week. We will need to determine an acceptable schedule of appointments based on mutual availability, response to treatment, and progress in treatment.
Appointments are typically for medication management and/or psychotherapy. If medication is prescribed, prescriptions are written during these visits with the correct number of refills to ensure that patients do not run out of medication between visits. If you run out of medications, it is likely because we missed connecting for a scheduled visit.
Cancellations/No Shows
In general, failure to cancel an appointment with more than 24-hours’ notice and no shows will result in a fee, as shown in the fee schedule. I understand that life happens and things come up, so please reach out if you need to cancel and I will do my best to re-schedule and work with you.
Failure to appear for an appointment at the time reserved for you will be billed to you at full fee per the appointment fee schedule. If you arrive to your appointment 15 minutes late, this is considered a missed appointment, and you will need to be rescheduled.
Again, I understand that there are some circumstances that cannot be avoided (emergencies, severe weather, etc.) and such events will be taken into consideration.
Please note, multiple no show appointments may result in discharge from clinic. This will be discussed with warning prior to being enacted.
Medication Refills
I require 48 business-hours of notice for prescription refill requests. Please be advised that regular visits are required to continue medications. During visits, medications are prescribed with sufficient refills to avoid having to contact the office outside of visits for refills – with some exceptions that will be explained when they arise. If you are needing to contact me for refills, it is likely an indication that we are off-schedule in terms of frequency of visits, so please plan to schedule a visit with your request.
For stimulants, refills can be more difficult to coordinate for two reasons: 1) A new script must be written each month. 2) There is a national shortage and many pharmacies are frequently out of stock. If you need a stimulant refill, it is your responsibility to contact local pharmacies to check if it is in stock. When this is identified, let me know the pharmacy name and address and I will send it as soon as I am able.

Out-of-network / Out-of-pocket Treament
- Improved privacy and confidentiality – Insurance companies require rigid documentation and perform frequent audits. Patients with a need for strict confidentiality like professionals or those with sensitive jobs may benefit due to increase flexibility with diagnosis and treatment options.
- Improved access to care – it can be very difficult to find a highly skilled psychiatrists that accepts insurance. While I do accept insurance, I may not be in-network with your plan. If this is the case, you may be able to utilize out-of-network benefits to still see me.
- Flexible treatment options – Insurances can limit the number and length of sessions patients may receive for mental health care. Seeking out-of-network or out-of-pocket care eliminates this restriction allowing for a more intensive treatment program.
I see many patients outside of their insurance network, either as an out-of-network provider or out-of-pocket. There are several advantages to this depending on your circumstances:
Out-of-pocket Fee Schedule
Intake and Diagnostic Assessment (60 min) – $350
Follow up visit (60min) – $350
Follow up visit (30min) – $200
Phone consultations (>5min) – $40/5min
Reports/Letters/Paperwork/Meetings – $100/15min
Fees reflect the complexity of services provided and are subject to change. Any change to the fee schedules will be communicated with at least 60 days notice to existing patients
